It isn't AI
A lot of "AI poker coaches" are chatbots, which can sound confident and still be wrong. Ours isn't. It's a program we wrote by hand: a set of poker rules, starting-hand tables and odds calculations. It doesn't guess, it doesn't make things up, and it gives the same answer every time you're in the same spot, with the reason in plain words.
The computer players at the table aren't AI either. They're simple rule-based bots, each with a style (tight, loose, aggressive and so on) so you can practise against different habits.
How it decides
Before the flop, it looks up your two cards in the Playbook: tables of which hands to play from each seat, and what to do when someone raises (which depends on the seat they raised from). You can see the opening tables on the starting hand chart.
After the flop, it looks at three things: what kind of hand you have (no pair, a draw, a weak pair, top pair, two pair or better), what kind of board it is (dry, full of draws, low, paired), and the betting. Then it applies a rule, like "against a big bet on a board full of draws, top pair with a weak kicker usually folds", and tells you why.
The numbers next to the advice (your chance of winning, and what you need to call) come from quick simulations: the site deals out the rest of the hand thousands of times and counts how often you win.
With three or more players in a pot, it leans more on those numbers and a few safe rules, because no free solver handles more than two players.
How we checked it
A solver is a program that works out the mathematically strongest way to play a spot. We compared the coach with solvers hand by hand and changed its rules until they agreed:
- Before the flop: the coach's main play matches the solver on 97% of starting hands, across opening, defending the big blind and facing a raise.
- Flop, turn and river: checked with TexasSolver, a free solver, on common spots (the button raises and the big blind calls). The coach matches the solver's main play about 75–85% of the time, and picks a play the solver also uses on about 90%.
Where the solver mixes plays ("raise 60% of the time, call 40%"), the coach picks one so it's easy to learn. A few rarer spots, like facing a re-raise before the flop, use simplified rules, and the coach says so when it gives that advice.
Your information
- The coach runs in your browser. Your cards aren't sent to us or anyone else to work out advice, and no AI company ever sees your hands.
- It doesn't learn from you. Nothing you play trains the coach or changes its advice for anyone else.
- Your stats are yours. If you sign in, we save your session results so you can see your progress and your blindspots. Download or delete them at any time from your account page. If you don't sign in, nothing is saved on our side.
- Human coaches are different. If you invite someone with your private coach link, that person sees your cards while they coach you. You choose who, and you can end it any time.

It's a practice tool
The coach teaches solid, simplified strategy with play money. Real opponents play all sorts of ways, and good players adjust. Nothing here guarantees results.
